Lake Tenkiller offers some one of the best environments for divers that range from novice to seasoned divers. There are a few dive shops to choose from to obtain a certification, rent equipment or to find areas to explore. Two of the local shops for diving include Genes Aqua Pro and Nautical Adventures.

Tenkiller Lake is the clearest body of water in Oklahoma with nearly 13,000 acres to provide ample space for a wide variety of boating activities. There are full service marinas on the lake providing fuel, bait, boat/activity items and places to eat. Four of the marinas, Simon’s Pine Cove, Barnacle Bills, Burnt Cabin and Sixshooter Resort also serve as floating restaurants that allow casual dress, straight from the lake.

The Illinois River is noted for its beauty and is located in the middle of the Oklahoma Ozark Hills. The Upper Illinois River has an easy flow and is a Class II river with a case of rock for the bottom and shorelines. Several of the stretches of this river offer mild rapids and make for a wonderful float trip experience. Both experienced paddlers and novice are sure to enjoy floating the river which boasts bluffs, gravel bars, and thick forests. A number of float trip outfitters along HWY 101 offer canoes, kayaks, and rafts. Most rent equipment and offer a shuttle service up the river to float back down to the outfitter. The river offers a variety of species for angler to pursue which include smallmouth bass, channel and flathead catfish, walleye and various sunfish. A designated area located from Tenkiller Dam to HWY 64 bridge, near Gore, offers year round trout fishing.
